Raising awareness of the benefits of certification and assurance services
The benefits derived by firms certified to ISO 9000 in Saudi Arabia was examined in the paper ‘ISO 9000 implementation: a study of manufacturing companies in Saudi Arabia‘ (Magd, Kadasah, Curry, 2003).The report looked exclusively at manufacturing firms and the analysis shows that the most important benefits were found to be ‘An increase in quality awareness, an improvement in quality system efficiency and an improvement in customer service’. In asking the firms about the ratio of benefits to costs, almost 75% felt benefits had exceeded costs.
